2023-2024 Program- The Traveler’s Heart Experience: A yearlong experiential learning experience where student artists use the visual, language, and performing arts to design, write, direct, and produce collaborative performances demonstrating their unique creative journey as life-long travelers.
All student and instructional artists will learn to use the visual, language, and performing arts to co-create The Traveler’s Heart Experience. They will be encouraged to take chances, make messes, be curious, inspire others, communicate, share ideas, ask for help, and more to create expressive stories they want to tell and see. They will learn to use a wide range of expressive mediums, they will develop critical thinking skills, collaboration, and how to share their art with their community. Instructional artists serve student artists by exposing them to a wide range of technical skills, creative mediums, and trouble-shooting sounding boards allowing each student the opportunity to create their artistic style.
The heart of each traveler will take its own unique form and serve as the common thread as it will become a 3D representation of each student’s growth and development over the school year.
Semester 1 will encourage exploration, character/story development, and project and life skill development, collaboration, and thinking skills. The guiding questions challenge each student to discover their creative voice: “What do I want to say? How do I want to say it? Who/What do I need to be successful? At the conclusion of the 1st semester students will curate their Traveler’s Heart Process Point Art Exhibition featuring creative work and skills they choose to share.
